Our infrastructure

In the last year we built a completely new tech stack based on a microservice architecture set up in the Google Cloud where Continuous integration, Test Driven Development, clean architecture and clean code guarantee an efficient codebase and fast shipping process. The use of a Headless CMS keeps us being flexible with our data structure and content maintenance.

In this setup on backend we mainly use the following technologies:

  • GraphQL
  • Elasticsearch
  • CraftCMS
  • MySQL

We are excited for you if you offer

  • several years of experience in working with web applications
  • professional knowledge with Node.js and JavaScript (ES5/ES6)
  • experience with Version Control Systems, Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration

... and even more so if you were able to gain experience with

  • the optimisation and scalability of larger platforms
  • GraphQL, Elasticsearch
  • DevOPS with Google Cloud Services
  • PHP or any other programming language

Your working day

You will be part of a dynamic and open minded team of many talents and interests. A day at whatchado starts with grinding exquisite coffee in an ECM mill and then preparing it in a professional portafilter machine. At the subsequent stand-up meeting you will coordinate with your colleagues and discuss the course of the working day. Then you dedicate yourself to your tasks in the respective project teams. For lunch, you go to one of the many restaurants close to the office or cook together with your colleagues in our well equipped kitchen. With us, developers are always involved in planning so it is easy for you to complete tasks independently. If anything should be unclear, you can always ask your team leader or your fellow colleagues.

Now you put on your headphones and you will have completed a few tasks in a flash and it is time for what you have been looking forward to all day: working on your own research project. Naturally, before we use new technologies or tools at whatchado they undergo a careful testing. Therefore, you always learn something new, just like that – on the job. That is why frustration should easily be kept at bay, especially because it is almost time to leave the office at the end of your work day. An open, healthy and flexible working life is of the utmost importance to us, including the ability to work in the Home Office. At whatchado, a reasonable work-life balance is more than just a marketing buzzword.
