“You can do anything you want as long as you work hard on it, you have a passion for it and you can get people supporting you.” That’s what Kristen “KittyPlaysGames” learned from life and would also tell her 14-year-old self. The coolest part of her job as a Featured Twitch Broadcaster is that “it’s just incredible to be recognized by people you don’t really think of as viewers.”

Drei Ratschläge an Dein 14jähriges Ich!

First of all I would tell them that life is not on a set course; okay right now you might feel like to be studying as hard as you can for school and applying to university and everything is planned out for you and you can just follow that and it’s easy but it is not. You can do anything you want to do truly I believe that now as long as you work hard on it every single day you have a passion for it then you can get people behind you supporting you so, yeah, and then I think that’s about it that’s all I would tell myself.

Was steht auf Deiner Visitenkarte?

My real name is Kristen and my job title I guess would be a featured broadcaster on Twitch TV.

Was ist das coolste an Deinem Job?

Going by streaming by myself in my basement in front of my computer to coming to an event like this and getting none stopped for selfies, signings, for people saying hallo it’s just incredible to be recognized by people like you don’t really think of as viewers when you are just streaming by yourself. You’re just comfortable and in your own zone and then you actually get to meet your fans it’s kind of really special, so I really like that.

Welche Einschränkungen bringt Dein Job mit sich?

Currently I think the main challenge is just feeling the need to prove myself as a gamer and a streamer, people at females as just doing things to get attention and other females do the same thing too, you know you can’t actually enjoy the game, you are like, “Yes I love the game.” And I do feel the need to consistently get better and improve just to show people that I am serious about what I do, rather than just being accepted immediately into the gaming world so.

Worum geht es in Deinem Job?

It is definitely a dream come true and it’s definitely also, I don’t know, it is stressful but it is good. I definitely run my own business now which is awesome and I am really excited about that, a lot of hours I put in a week definitely it’s a 24-7 job, when I am not live on stream I am answering emails, I am in Skype calls, I am setting up graphics, I am working on my YouTube. So there is a lot of work involved people don’t realize when they see us stream. They see the stream hopefully it looks like it is really easy that means I am doing a good job because I have laid everything out as really easy for people to see but it’s a trying job but it is awesome and I get to travel a lot now which is cool so...

Wie sieht Dein Werdegang aus?

I was born in Toronto, Ontario Canada; I was raised majority of my life in Okanogan in British Columbian Canada. I was into gaming from ever since I was very young I remember being 4 years old and peeping over my dad’s shoulder when he could play quick and doom with our neighbor, they would run an internet cable over the back fence and play together. So immediately I was exposed to games I played WarCraft for the past 10 years with my father’s well so that’s is kind of what got my love of gaming growing and then I went to university I originally wanted to become a doctor following in my family’s footsteps and realizing that wasn’t the thing for me. I went to business then I found streaming and I realize I have such a love for it and I had just to kind of give myself a foundation in business now and take that and start applying to the stream community, and now I have been streaming for a year and a half on the 18th.

Ginge es auch ohne Deinem Werdegang?

For people now who want to do what I do you can for sure pursue it and go from being a fulltime streamer. I think the skills involved are definitely that you have to be interactive, you have to have some sort of entertainment level and you can be good at the game or you have to be able to find a way to make the game entertaining. So if you don’t have business skills, if you are comfortable with being super interactive with your chat as many different areas of Twitch and streaming and channels that can be really successful as well and it is not just my little niche of area, you can be a pro gamer and get a ton of views and not talk to your chat a single time and make that your full time career. So I think it all depends you just have to figure out what you as a person is a value to people who are watching your stream, like why are people going to want to watch you over somebody like Lyric or Night Blue or whoever it is. Why are they going to pick you and really capitalize on that and make that your driving force in your stream and I think that way you can be successful and do something like I do.
