Was ist das coolste an Deinem Job?

Coolest thing about your job the team I guess I work with a variety of people hardcore scientists who are figuring out voice algorithms and doing amazing work, coaters who are building UI designer who are designing the UI. So I feel like where I could contribute is kind of bringing that together and bridging the gap between to those different skill set and working together in that environment and that’s a fun part for me.

Welche Einschränkungen bringt Dein Job mit sich?

To start up just keeping everything together and keeping everybody focused on the right thing, we are a little more than 50 people and that’s 50 opinions to manage about what the direction should be and what we should, shouldn’t do and people get very vehement and caught up in their opinions and keeping the singular focus making sure that we are making progress all the time is really what it is all about.

Worum geht es in Deinem Job?

The company is a communications company a messaging company and our ambition is messaging reborn so we want to breathe new life in to the messaging space, into the real time communication space for mobile for iOS, it’s for android, it’s on the desktop we have wire for web as well and I am the CEO so at the end of the day the guy who is responsible for the decisions made in the company. Usually starts with scramble scram meetings and well we go through the daily plan and then a lot of meetings and the usual fair bit of email and that kind of thing and in to the evening usually a dinner something like that with a team or a partners and then off to bed.

Wie sieht Dein Werdegang aus?

I am from Hawaii so I grew up in Hawaii and I went to high school in Hawaii, I went to college in California and moved back to Hawaii I thought I am going to stay here forever. I studied law and business, I got my MBA in Hawaii and I started picking up technology as a hobby and when the internet came along I got involved on telecom and I was one of the guys the rolling out the first generation of broadband, so cable modems in Hawaii and from there I was recruited by Microsoft and I spent 5 years at Microsoft and then from there I did couple of startups one was bought by Skype and I spend 6 years at Skype. So I have been doing this internet communications thing since 1998 and it seems to be something that I can get out of my system and we have been doing Wire since 2012 but we just launched in December very early days for us 6 months and we just keep reading the product and making it better we hope.

Ginge es auch ohne Deinem Werdegang?

I think is absolutely possible to do this job and to start any company without having been through Microsoft and Skype and doing other startups or whatever, lots and lots of first time success stories out there I think it’s more about the affinity that you have towards the project you are working on. Don’t even bother if you are not passionate about it no sense and it is not going to work out unless you are passionate about it.
