“We make it really easy for people to DJ using their iPhone.” As Co-Founder and CEO of djz.com, Seth Goldstein is surrounded by a lot of music. The limitation? “It’s hard to disconnect, because there’s always more. There’s always more information, there’s always data, there’s always email, there’s always Facebook, there’s always Instagram.”

Drei Ratschläge an Dein 14jähriges Ich!

I don’t think about that. I don’t know.

Was steht auf Deiner Visitenkarte?

My name is Seth Goldstein and I’m the cofounder and CEO of djz.com.

Was ist das coolste an Deinem Job?

I get to hear a lot of music; I get to go and stand behind Diplo and Belen Francis music festival in front of 20,000 people and feel their energy. That’s pretty powerful.

Welche Einschränkungen bringt Dein Job mit sich?

It’s hard to disconnect because there’s always more information, there’s always metrics, there’s always data, there’s always email, there’s always Facebook, there’s always Instagram, there’s always everything and in my job I feel justified being connected all the time but I don’t think it’s healthy.

Worum geht es in Deinem Job?

So we make it really easy for people to dj using their iPhone and my role is work with everybody, build a team and raise capital and make everything go forward. My job is to really inspire my people, my team and to take care of them and to think about them and think through their eyes and put myself in their shoes and make sure that they are working on something that’s meaningful to them and that they are uniquely suited to do better than everybody else and so if they do that and it’s a hard problem and its meaningful to them and it’s the right problem for the company and they are spending time using skills that only they have and I do that with 5, 10, 20, however many people I have, then something very powerful can come out of that. Ever Thursday afternoon we have an inner sanctum, an inner room called the Kazbar and it’s a kind of a hybrid of Willy Wonker and the Chocolate Factory and the Bed Win Tent in Morocco and its just filled with very colorful cushions and pillows that people can sit on and a dj booth and lights and we all get together and we meet there and we use our own application there. We take turns and we invite people outside and we have little hook ups like ecigarettes and dried fruit, that’s what we do very Thursday, in San Francisco in North Beach.

Wie sieht Dein Werdegang aus?

I grew up outside of Boston, Massachusetts in the States, I went to high school for performing arts and theatre in Michigan Interlochen, I went to Columbia in New York for university, I studied literature and I was in Germany in Korzwa in ... , doing technology sort of a centre for technology for media and technology, then I started one of the first online advertising in companies in New York in 1995 called Sight Specific almost 20 years ago and did some of the first advertising in the internet. Then I built a lot of companies and that similar company. I lived in New York for a long time and I moved with my family to San Francisco. I started djz in July of last year of 2012.

Ginge es auch ohne Deinem Werdegang?

Sure, my background is not traditional; I have just always believed that I should be doing what I’m doing.
