"All I want to think about is my modelling.” Hamidullah Sarway was born in Kabul where he started his modelling career when he was 17 years old. War in his hometown forced him to leave and so he started gaining ground in the fashion industry of Austria. He enjoys being in front of the camera, doing poses and working with photographers. The best parts of his job are picking out new clothes and going to the barber, because “-when you do that style, you are the first one.”

Worum geht es in Deinem Job?

The handsome face is important but everything else is very hard in my job. Picking the right clothes, go to the barber and figure out a new style to be the first one who has that new style. Posing is extremely hard: one day, one photo.

Wie sieht Dein Werdegang aus?

I born in Kabul. I started the school when I was six. After I finished the ground school I studied pharmacy and started the modelling career when I was 16. My friends took the first pictures from me. I learned the basics of modelling in Afghanistan but because of the war I came to Austria. I would like to continue to build my career here in Austria.

Ginge es auch ohne Deinem Werdegang?

Not everyone can do it because three things are must to have for this job: good clothes, doing poses and a handsome face. If you have these three things, you can do this job.

Was ist das coolste an Deinem Job?

The cool thing about my job is when I find my favourite clothes in my favourite colors in the shopping center. It’s important to choose light colors instead dark ones because the photographers like them more. When I find the right one it’s kind of satisfying and cool.

Welche Einschränkungen bringt Dein Job mit sich?

The difficult part in my job is when I do a pose but the photographer wants a different one.

When I was 14 I was thinking about school. But now I would advice to myself: just think about the modelling and be a model here in Austria.

Wie werde ich

Model

Einmal als Victoria Secret Engel über den Laufsteg schweben oder als das neue Unterwäschemodel von Calvin Klein von den Plakatwänden strahlen. Das ist der Traum vieler junger Menschen, die Model werden wollen. Doch so glänzend wie der Job auf dem Laufsteg und auf den Hochglanzbildern erscheint, ist er in der Realität nicht immer. Modeln ist harte Arbeit und hinter den durchtrainierten Körpern und dem umwerfendem Lächeln auf den Fotos steckt viel Disziplin. Als Model machst du Fotoshootings im Bereich Fashion, Beauty, Schmuck und Werbung, drehst Werbeclips oder schreitest über den Catwalk. Dabei präsentierst du ein Produkt. Das kann Kleidung, Make-Up oder auch Tiernahrung sein. Vor allem am Anfang wirst du nicht Haut Couture auf den Laufstegen von Mailand und Paris präsentieren, sondern um kleinere Aufträge kämpfen. Du musst dich auf viele neue Situationen einstellen und die Anweisungen des Kunden bzw. Fotografen ausführen. Mittlerweile gibt es auch Models in unterschiedlichen Bereichen. Nicht nur die klassischen Beauty-Models und Laufsteg-Queens werden bei Agenturen unter Vertrag genommen. Nischenmodels sind immer mehr im kommen. So zum Beispiel Plus Size Models, Fitness-Models oder Tattoo-Models. In diesen Bereichen gilt: Umso markanter du bist, desto besser.
