Drei Ratschläge an Dein 14jähriges Ich!

First of all, as a 14-year old girl I didn't know what I want to do in my life, so this was something that I was crazy about and the first advice will be, don't worry so much. You will figure it out somehow it will come out. Just do what you want to do, try to do the best of yourself, whatever it takes. The second what I will say to myself: don't be angry of your mom because she is trying to give you the best female advice. And the third thing it will be, enjoy your childhood because at that time I was thinking that the grow up people are so cool. They can do everything, and that it's so good and better to be grown up. And I will say to myself, “come on it takes time, enjoy right now as a 14-year old girl.”

Ginge es auch ohne Deinem Werdegang?

I think it's possible somebody's doing my job with the different background, but you need to fill up yourself with so many information and you need to have before coming to this hotel or any kind of hotel to do my job. You have to have the main skill, which is communication and this feeling for the guests. Because sometimes you can learn a lot of things but the feeling is the feeling you need to feel the guests, to see what they need before they told you. Actually it's possible to work, but you need to work really, really hard before you start this.

Was ist das coolste an Deinem Job?

The coolest thing, the thing that I like is really that I can make somebody happy in daily life every single day. And this is what I'm doing with the guests. With the small things that you do, if you show them just a map, where is the city center? Where they can go to eat and then later afterwards they were thrilled, you know, they said, "Thank you. It was great. Thank you for your recommendation," and I'm doing this on a daily basis. You can do something different for the people. Small things but actually for them those are big things.

Was steht auf Deiner Visitenkarte?

My name is Marieta Majic and on my business card is written 'Welcome home host'.

Welche Einschränkungen bringt Dein Job mit sich?

The limitation is I'm working when the most of the people are on holiday. My family, my friends, and we are always full, we are in a high season when it's summer, when it's time to relax most of the people are also here to relax but actually we need to work. So, this is something that you need to deal with when you enter to this job, that it's not problem for you to celebrate or Christmas eve or new year, or summer holiday with the guests, with your colleagues at work. Just you do your job and try to keep the best of it, but actually this is something that I miss.

Wie sieht Dein Werdegang aus?

Originally I'm coming from a small town Kashtella, that's near Split and I came here to Zadar to university. I am here right now 13 years. I've finished high school in Split, economy school and after that I've finished I graduated here in Zadar. Culture and tourism for communications in tourism. During the college I started to work for Falkensteiner entertainment company. I was doing that for two seasons as well-fit entertainer, and I was doing as well some shows with the kids as well so it was very interesting. This was my first touch with industry of hotel industry with the Falkensteiner group. After that I finished my college and I started to work as a receptionist at the reception, and after two years on the reception I entered to the program of Falkensteiner: Falkensteiner academy. I was doing that program for one year where I went through all departments in the hotel. This was a really, really nice experience for me because I saw how does it function in the restaurant, at the reception, and also in that period I passed through some training programs which help me a lot to be where I'm right now as welcome home host or a guest relation. Because we went to two very good training programs. One of them is housekeeping, quality management and the other one which help me a lot with this job was complaint management handling, and also self and time management.

Worum geht es in Deinem Job?

I'm working for Falkensteiner group at a Resort and in a five star Hotel. My job is about taking care of the guests, welcoming them before their arrival, during their stay, and after they departure. Usually I'm at the reception I'm welcoming them at reception on their arrival, but before that actually I'm sending a prior arrival letter to inform them about our offer. To tell them that I will be there for them, to welcome them, to take care of them because this is the main part of my job. So, usually I start my job at two o'clock until 22 o'clock, so I'm in a shift where I'm welcoming the guests during the checking in into the hotel. Then I start with preparing for the dinner to see how many guests we have, to be in organization with people in the restaurant about reservation of the table. I'm welcoming them as well in front of the restaurant, and we're going together in the restaurant. I'm also checking my emails and sending pre-arrival letters, and preparing my day for tomorrow and also I'm in communication with my colleagues at the reception. If there is some things that we need to do or organize, or we are preparing for next day.
